Mike's passion for home building was inspired by his childhood spent in the Carolina’s… from demolition, from tinkering, from questioning, and from never sitting still.  From racing cars, to building robotics, to rebuilding and modifying everything he could get my hands on.  Mike has always had a passion for art, for craft and the dedication to build it better. 

While earning a degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University, Mike spent summers framing houses, an experience that expanded his appreciation for fine architecture and beautiful homes. Knowing the advantages of learning by doing, Mike spent the next three years gaining hands-on commercial building experience in: multifamily, pharmaceutical, office, and school sectors.

Mike would go on to earn a Master’s degree from the University of Florida’s Rinker School of Building Construction, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious construction science programs. Mike has completed construction projects all over the Carolinas and Florida.  He has worked on individual projects exceeding $35M+ and 225,000sf+. Mike has worked for some of the nations largest commercial and residential general contractors: Bovis Lend Lease and Pulte Homes as well as for local custom builders and engineers.   He has managed construction at Merck Pharmaceuticals, Cisco Systems, Duke University, worked on the first 1million+ condo project in Raleigh, NC (Gardens on Glenwood) and built custom single family homes exceeding $1M+ .

Today, Mike Madariaga helms Deep South Building Company.  With a “do-it-now” attitude Mike thrives on production and getting things done.   This translates into prompt return phone calls, efficient business meetings, and easy accessibility.  Our customers like that.

Mike brings a strong sense of design, coordination and expertise to the company.   Its art on a bigger scale,” he says.  “I love being creative.  Building homes, kitchens and bathrooms, and outdoor spaces, is what I call, “living art.  I have a knack for helping owners choose their fixtures, finishes, stone and appliances.  I bridge the gap that can exist between the architect and the interior designer.”

Unlike many other firms, our onsite management is done by highly experienced licensed general contractors. We personally oversee every phase of construction on every project as if it were our own homes.  It is our goal to create a collaborative effort between the client, architect, decorator, and craftsmen to build the very finest dwelling your budget allows.  In this effort we truly excel.

Although we've done it all a thousand times before, we take nothing for granted and carefully analyze every detail of our project scope of work and then challenge ourselves to find creative ways to do it even better while contributing ideas for time and cost savings. When we leave a project, we're proud that every detail is a testament to our attention to detail and professionalism. No exceptions!
